Abstract

In logistics and supply chain management, all subcomponents of digital transformation have recently gained widespread use, along with digital transformation. Artificial intelligence and its derivatives, the Internet of Things, big data mining, and cloud computing are among the most prominent of these components. Blockchain technology, with its significant advantages in both decentralization and cybersecurity, has become increasingly used in logistics and supply chain management, significantly differentiating it from digital transformation. Because businesses operate as a link in the supply chain, simply implementing blockchain is not enough for one business to integrate it into the system. Otherwise, it faces the risk of losing its competitive advantage. At this point, the core of this study is the question of how blockchain technology, used in logistics as a function of the business, and even in supply chain management, which encompasses other businesses, relates to sustainable development. This study investigates the relevance of blockchain and supply chain-focused studies published in journals on the Web of Science to the sustainable development goals set forth by the United Nations. The study's bibliometric analysis concluded that only 18% of studies using these two disciplines (blockchain and supply chain) together were related to sustainable development goals. The same study was also searched in the SCOPUS and DergiParkı databases, yielding similar results.
